How to: "Twinking" in World of Warcraft

 A "Twink" in World of Warcraft is a character equipped with all of the best gear available for it's level. Most commonly, twinks are made for PVP battlegrounds. The best levels to make twinks are 19, 29, 39, 49, and 70. This is because battleground brackets are set up from, for example, 15-19 so at level 19 you are the highest level available for the match. Twinking is usually done after someone has hit the level cap and is looking for a way to spend extra gold and have fun on a lower level character. A complete twink will have full best-in-slot gear.

Before creating your character that you plan to twink you should prepare the resources you'll need. Since twinking is very reliant on gold, make sure you have sufficient funds first. Scan the auction house for BOE items that are suitable for your twink. You will also need currency on your main character such as Justice Points and Honor Points in order to buy Bind on Account items for your character. In most circumstances Bind on Account items are the best in slot items for twinks. If you are unable to get Justice Points on your main for PVE boas, honor can be converted into Justice Points aswell.

 Once your twink character is at the desired level, you should turn your experience off. To do this, visit Behstan or Slahtz in Stormwind and Orgrimmar respectively. For a one-time 10 gold fee, they will allow you to stop your character from gaining experience. This will allow you to do battlegrounds and dungeons without leveling up. Also, it will allow you to get achievements like "Explorer" without leveling. If you ever wish to turn your experience back on, these same npcs can reverse the experience off for another 10 gold fee.

Warning: If you have a level 19 twink from before Wrath of the Litch King, you may be very close to leveling. When WOTLK was released the amount of experience needed to level was reduced. If so be very careful when you log in as any exploration will cause your character to level.

Begin to jot down the gear pieces you will need for your twink. Keep in mind that items like Arena Grand Master are hard to get but often essential. Keep tabs on the auction house for boe blues that catch your eye. The auction house items can be very expensive, so make sure they are best in slot for your character before buying them. A good resource for finding what gear is best in slot for your character is www.twinkinfo.com. Keep in mind, too, that certain quest items are alliance only or horde only. These items can be obtained via a faction change, so plan accordingly. Along with items you will need to find an enchanter with rare pre-bc enchants. Some enchants such as 30 spell power to weapon can be difficult to find, so when you do find an enchanter that can do it, friendlist them.

 Twinking can be very reliant on events - specifically the Gurubashi Arena chest and The Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza. The gurubashi arena chest spawns in the gurubashi arena in Stranglethorn Vale every 3 hours beginning at noon (server time). When the chest spawns, your goal is to loot the chest for the "Arena Master" trinket. The trinket requires level 35 but begins a quest that can be completed by any level. You must loot 12 "Arena Masters" to obtain the trinket "Arena Grand Master", The best way to attempt this is to be at the chest during off peak hours. Often times level 85s will be camping the chest, so bringing friends can be helpful aswell. Be mindful that your own faction can kill you in the arena.The Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza occurs every Sunday from 2-4 server time. The goal of the contest for a 19 twink is to loot the "Keefer's Anglefish" from the pools of Tasty Fish along the shores of Stranglethorn Vale. The Keefer's Anglefish can be turned in for "Lucky Fishing Hat", a great head slot for any 19 twink. Make sure to have plenty of bag spot and free time before begining to fish.

 Once you are satisfied with your characters gear, it is time to begin PvPing. Though you may be satisfied with your gear, a good twink is never done gearing up. Twinking is about pushing your character to its limits so staying on top of twink news is key. As you play battlegrounds you will begin to see familiar faces and make some friends.
